St. Benedict Students Fly High with elearning Courses related topic
Yapster Press Release
February 2003

Ninety out of the 120 college students who enrolled in the   latest Information Technology curriculum offered by St.   Benedict College (SBC) recorded positive learning growth,   with the highest learning curve reaching to 79%, a survey   conducted by SBC and Yapster e-Learning, Inc. revealed.

The survey, carried out in order to measure the effects of e-  learning courses to the students, found that most of the ‘e-  learners’ (students enrolled in e-learning) were satisfied with   the use of e-learning in their curriculum.

"We are pleased with the students’ positive feedback on e-  learning. Since almost 100% of them expressed how easy to use and effective studying via e-learning is, we are confident that we made the right choice in our move to adopt new ways in our curriculum," Magdalena S. Regullano, Dean CAS.

Most notable in the survey are the students’ performances in courses covering the Internet, HTML, MS FrontPage 2000, and MS Visual Basic among others where students’ learning curve averaged to around 52%.

"This suggests that more than half of the students who took e-learning courses improved their skills on the subject area after a semester. This is really incredible. E-learning is, as, if not even more, effective than traditional classroom training," Dean Regullano, added.

St. Benedict College through Rev. Aloysius A. Maranan, OSB, Rector introduced e-learning courses to its IM and IT curriculum last year which included basic and advanced IT vendor course. This is in line with the school’s focus on providing its students with well rounded, up-to-date, and highly competitive curriculum.

Yapster e-Learning, Inc., the country’s leading provider of web-based training and education, ran the survey among students who took both e-learning pre- and post-assessment exams.

"The difficulty has always been proving measurable gains in knowledge, the pre- and post assessments show the learning curve very clearly," stated Yapster e-Learning Inc.’s Chief Executive Officer Arlene Yap.

Yapster e-Learning, Inc. is a subsidiary of Yapster e-Conglomerate. It is the country’s leading provider of e-learning courses, with a library of over 1,500 business and IT courses, as well as manpower training. Visit www.2StudyIT.com for more information on Yapster e-Learning.
