STI Chooses Yapster eLearning related topic

STI recently awarded a contract to Yapster e-Learning, Inc. to install and implement an online learning system within their education and training network. This is in line with STI's commitment to deliver quality education in information and communications technologies in pursuit of its mission to be the leading global IT powerhouse.

STI has evolved to be the largest computer education system in the country with over 120 schools here and abroad. With the inclusion of an e-learning curriculum, STI extends its reach in fulfillment of its promise to provide as many Filipinos as possible with quality computer education making each graduate equal to the best in the world.

Yapster e-Learning, the premiere provider of web-based training has installed the e-learning system that allows STI to manage and monitor their learners' use of web-based courses. STI and Yapster e-Learning are currently preparing for the introduction of this innovative program in the coming semester.

"We have evaluated several e-learning providers and have found Yapster e-Learning's curriculum to be the most extensive and up-to-date," Noel Sauz, STI Links' General Manager said. "In addition, we are pleased to work with a company that shares our vision to make education available to as many as possible, anywhere and anytime."

The newly implemented e-learning curriculum will initially include International Computer Driving License (ICDL) courses for 10,000 users. The ICDL is a basic course on computer usage covering word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, computer basics, and the World Wide Web. A series of certification preparation training curriculum such as Java, Unix, and Web Development will also be included. Vendor specific certification from Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, CISCO, Netscape, Novell and Lotus Notes are part of the curriculum as well. Finally, business courses - project management, communications, finance, marketing, and business law -- will be incorporated into the e-learning program to ensure well-rounded graduates.

Yapster e-Learning launched its products and services last September, through 2StudyIT.com. 2StudyIT.com now has a library of over 1000 business and IT courses. "In the next 6 months, we will add specialized courses such as languages and college degrees that will bring our library to 1,500 courses," Yapster e-Larning's CEO Arlene Yap promised.

As value add, Yapster e-Learning provides internationally accredited exams from partners such as Virtual University Enterprise (VUE) and Sylvan Prometric for those who have completed certification courses. "We are committed to providing Filipinos every opportunity to become globally competitive in the IT world, " Ms. Yap added.
