Lepanto Employees Graduate from Yapster eLearning Courses related topic
Yapster Press Release
June 2002

Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company (Lepanto), a leading mining company in the Philippines, has just released the first batch of graduates of its e-learning curriculum. Lepanto employees completed a specially designed curriculum of web-based courses from Yapster e-Learning, Inc.'s library of over 1,200 Business and IT courses.

Lepanto signed up for an e-learning program with Yapster e-Learning last September 2001. "E-learning seemed to be the solution to our training problems. We needed a program that offered the courses we needed for the workforce at a reasonable price," Jay Romero, Lepanto's Human Resources Specialist recalls.

Romero recalls the resistance from Lepanto employees upon introducing an e-learning program. However, with constant communication and continued guidance from Lepanto's HR team, especially HR professionals Romero and Ms. Nora Martin, employees' concerns and issues were easily addressed. "Now Lepanto employees as well as the managerial personnel are comfortable and very happy with e-learning," Romero shares.

In consultation with Yapster e-Learning, Lepanto's management was able to develop a curriculum of 73 courses for access by over 200 employees in its Makati City head office and Mining Division in Mangkayang, Benguet through Lepanto€s Intranet system. Business courses on human resources management, personal development, communication, customer service, project management, as well as vendor-accredited IT courses on Microsoft Office and Oracle systems are included in the Lepanto e-learning program.

"Mapping out courses for our employees is only one of the services that we received from Yapster e-Learning," Romero adds. Yapster e-Learning consultants also work with clients to develop strategies to ensure that their employees make use of individual training paths. Lepanto's management was able to encourage high employee usage by providing in-house "e-learning centers" in both sites. Seemingly lofty passing grades of 100% were surpassed by a significant number of Lepanto employees.

Yapster e-Learning was launched last September 2000. Their complete library of web-based Business and It courses can be found in www.2StudyIT.com. Yapster e-Learning training consultants work with companies to develop the most effective corporate training programs.

"We are very happy with our Yapster e-learning program. With this system, we are able to guarantee that our employees are trained and updated with the latest skills and knowledge," Romero concludes. "After all, a well-educated and competent workforce is a primary key to the success of Lepanto."
